Every year, TIME magazine publishes its list of the Best Innovations, highlighting 200 remarkable innovations that are transforming lives. In the 2024 edition, TIME included Volvo's driver understanding system, which is standard in the fully electric EX90 SUV.
The driver understanding system in the EX90 is an innovative safety feature that employs real-time sensing technology to determine if a driver is impaired, fatigued, or distracted, allowing the car to provide assistance when necessary.
In certain situations, the EX90 will gently nudge the driver and, if that doesn't have the intended effect, it will follow up with more persistent notifications. If an unexpected event occurs, such as the driver dozing off, the EX90 is designed to safely bring the car to a stop and alert other road users by activating its hazard lights.
Volvo's all-electric flagship SUV is crafted to enhance safety and make daily travels more convenient and enjoyable. Additionally, it will improve over time by learning from real-time data and receiving over-the-air updates.
