Revving up the next generation of electric vehicles, the Volvo ES90 propels the industry forward with its cutting-edge 800V technology, setting a new benchmark for extended range and rapid charging times. The 800-volt system charges batteries faster, improves overall performance, and increases efficiency compared to a 400-volt system.
The ES90 also features new battery management software and hardware, along with a progressive design, resulting in a vehicle that surpasses all previous electric Volvo models in terms of range and charging speed. It can add approximately 186 miles of range in just 10 minutes at 350 kW fast charging stations and offers a driving range of up to 435 miles under the WLTP testing cycle.
The ES90 excels not only in battery technology but also plays a significant role in advancing sustainability in various other aspects. For instance, it incorporates a variety of recycled and natural materials, which help reduce CO2 emissions during production. Specifically, 29 percent of all the aluminum used in the ES90 is recycled, along with 16 percent of the polymers and 18 percent of the steel. Additionally, the wood panels within the ES90 are crafted from FSC-certified wood.
The Volvo ES90 is set to be officially revealed on March 5, 2025. Following its reveal, the ES90 will embark on a 15-city North America tour in April. This tour will give potential buyers and enthusiasts a chance to experience the new model up close before it becomes widely available.
